Established in 1991, The Kick Law Firm, APC represents consumers in complex civil litigation matters. The Kick Law Firm, APC's attorneys have served as class counsel in national and California class actions, including being appointed as lead counsel and as members of plaintiffs' executive committees. Attorney Taras Kick, the firm's shareholder, is a 1989 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a 1986 graduate of Swarthmore College, where he majored in Economics and Psychology. He is also a member of the national Board of Directors of Public Justice; the co-chair of the American Bar Association Committee on Class Actions & Derivative Suits consumer class actions; a member of the American Association for Justice Class Action Litigation Sub-Group; the Consumer Attorneys of California Class Action Group; and, the State Bar of California Antitrust and Unfair Competition Litigation section.
On October 1, 2012, Governor Edmon G. Brown Jr. appointed Taras Kick as a Commissioner to the California Law Revision Commission to assist the California Legislature and Governor by examining California law and recommending needed reforms. http://gov.ca.gov/news.php?id=17772. On October 25, 2013, Governor Brown reappointed him as a Commissioner of the California Law Revision Commission. http://gov.ca.gov/news.php?id=18280. Mr. Kick was the Chairperson of the California Law Revision Commission from September 2015 through September 2016.
In addition to its work on behalf of consumers in class actions, The Kick Law Firm, APC has prosecuted numerous other multi-million dollar matters, including Lampe v. General Tire, a three month jury trial resulting in a $55 million verdict for the plaintiff; Bakewell v. Seaside Resort Development, the largest real estate partnership dispute in Monterey County, CA history (resulting in a confidential settlement on behalf of plaintiff during jury selection); Pacific Digital v. Confidential (resulting in an $8 million legal malpractice settlement).
